Crocker POPS!
New! Anyone Can Donate Online Now for CROCKER POPS!
What is Crocker POPS? This is our opportunity to raise funds specifically directed toward a pre-determined project at school. During the live auction you will be asked to raise your paddle when the auctioneer calls the level ($25, $50, $100, etc.) of your choosing. You can’t be outbid so everyone wins here! If you cannot join us for the live auction, you can make your contribution here.
What is the project this year? The Edible Garden POPS!
With Crocker going green, doesn’t it make sense to expose our kids to some locally-grown greens right in front of their classrooms? Spearheaded by Crocker parents, the Edible Garden is taking shape in the library courtyard. It will provide Crocker students a hands-on experience, designed to teach them about nature, sustainability, and nutrition. This year’s POPS money will be used to build the beds and fill them with soil, seeds, and plants. Yes, we are asking for trucks full of dirt! Once the beds are in place, what could we use to turn our Edible Garden into an Edible Garden Oasis? Maybe a table with benches, an umbrella, a wind vane, a fruit tree, planting tables, gardening tools, and gloves.

The Golden Ticket
The phrase “The Golden Ticket” has held the promise of both magic and opportunity for generations of school-aged children (and their parents). Now, with the Crocker Highlands Golden Ticket drive, the first fifty lucky donors to purchase the $100 tickets will have the chance to hold a little magic, and help out Crocker Highlands Elementary School. The 50 tickets will be sold in the month leading up to the March 6th auction, and during the auction’s drawing, one lucky ticket holder will take home one of the incredible Live Auction prizes of their choosing. Winners must be present to win. Don’t miss your opportunity to hold a little magic, and help Crocker! Buy your ticket here
What happens at the event?
The event begins with a silent auction, sign-ups and raffle items from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Drinks (full no-host bar) and a delicious buffet dinner will be served as you mingle through the silent auction. The exciting live auction will begin at 8:00 pm, with dessert, dancing, and checkout occurring from 9:30-11:00.
The “Golden Ticket” raffle, occurring prior to the live auction is your chance to win any of the live auction items before everyone else gets to bid. Simply purchase one of the 50 tickets for $100.00 either online (link) or on the playground.
What should I wear?
The invitation calls for cocktail attire, but really almost anything goes, except jeans. The Sequoyah Country Club does not allow jeans inside the country club.
Why is this fundraiser so important?
The money that we raise from this event strengthens our children’s educational experience and provides better support to the teachers and staff of Crocker Highlands Elementary. Specifically the auction contributes to the following:
- Vocal Music instruction one class per week for each grade
- Computer laboratory staffed 24 hours per week
- A physical education program that includes 30 hours of P.E. each week
- Achievement Gap programs
- Parent education workshops
- Special funds to support activities provided by our teaching staff.
How can I help?
The auction is a huge undertaking and we would like the whole Crocker community to participate. We hope you will seriously consider joining us in any way you can.
Here are some ways that you can get involved:
- Donate an item to the auction (do it online)
- Volunteer to help at the day and night of the event (for more information, please contact Lisa Hobbs at lisa_a_hobbs@yahoo.com)
- Bid at our online auction running from Saturday, February 27, 2010 through Thursday, March 4, 2010
- Attend the event and participate in the fun, festivities and fundraising
What are Sign-Ups? (Submit your sign-up)
Sign-ups are events that parents or a group of parents agree to host. These are group activities and can range from activities for as small as 10 people/kids to as large as 130 with prices ranging from $15 per person to $100 per couple depending on the type of event. These events have the potential to be the largest source of funds from the auction. In the past, we have been able to offer the Wine Bus, Progressive Dinner, Chick Flick, and Poker Night for Dads and all sorts of parties for the kids. Please see the sign up calendar, online form or paper form and ideas list.
Hope to see you on the 6th of March!
